March

This month I'm really trying to get this whole $6/day thing (yes, I've been trying all along, but this month I'm trying to build off of the things I've learned/failed in), or really close, so I'm trying to be very organized in our eating. I'm going to try to list every single item I think we'll eat with an estimate of cost beside it. The exception might be the fruits and vegetables we buy just to eat on the side or as snacks. I'll be listing things even if we already have them so I can give myself a better idea of how much we'll be spending on what (you know, before we spend it).

Basics:
3 large large things of PB (I think they're 80 oz.): 26.22
10-12 loaves bread: 9.79
4 boxes mac and cheese: 1.16
4-6 boxes cereal: 7.00
1 container oatmeal: 1.99
partial box malt-o-meal: .50?
2 5-lb bags whole wheat flour: 5.52
1 5-lb bag white flour: 1.19
1 5-lb bag sugar: 2.49
4 bags chocolate chips: 7.16
1 bag brown sugar: 2.30
1/2-1 bag powdered sugar: 1.30
1 10-lb bag russet potatoes: 2.89
yeast: .50-1.00
canola oil: 1.99
baking soda: .25
baking powder: .25
vanilla: .25
1-2 bottles syrup: 2.58
1 grape jam: 2.00
1 blackberry jam for Kip: 1.98
4 dozen eggs: 4.00
12-15 gallons milk (ouch ouch ouch): 23.88
1 frozen concentrate apple juice: .92
2 bags spinach: 3.38
2 lbs. carrots: 2.00
1/2 bag onions: 1.00
1 bunch broccoli: 1.25
1 pint cream: 1.65
a jillion (about 10) bunches bananas: 10.00
1 3-lb bag apples: 2.99
1/4 lb cold cuts: 2.00
mayo: .75
Miracle Whip (generic): .75
1 box Saltines: .79
4 containers (28 oz I think) applesauce: 6.00
raisins: 2.00
1 can tomato puree: 1.36
tomato sauce: 1.50
2 lb pasta: 2.00
4 lb butter: 9.20
2 cans tomato soup: 1.00
1 bag frozen fruit: 2.00
2 lb sharp cheddar: 7.50
cocoa: 1.00
2 bags shredded mozzarella: 4.00
2 cans peaches: 2.78
1 lb honey: 3.00

For specific meals:
Frozen spinach: 1.50
Frozen peas (?)
Quinoa: .50
1 can black beans: .77
1 can tomatoes: .20 (home canned, so only cost of lid)
pesto: .10 (homemade)
2 cans tuna: 1.00
1 small pumpkin: 1.40
sweet potatoes: .40
1 lb beef: 3.00
2 humanely treated chickens: 15.00
1 pork roast: 6.00
1/4 lb bacon: .50
8 oz sour cream: .50
brown rice: .50
a bit of Parm or asagio(sp?) cheese: .50
lentils: 1.00
barley: .25
8 oz cream cheese: .79 (sale)
swiss cheese: free since someone gave us some
chicken bullion: .50

Total with all that: $160.25, which leaves me with 45.75 to spend on more produce and other things. Which seems very doable, so we'll see how we do, now won't we. Keep your fingers crossed for me, will you?

January
This is a wee bit rough. I'm still figuring it all out. These are the things I know I'll need for the month and I usually buy them at the beginning of the month. Of course there may be other things I buy, most likely fruits/veggies and the staples like flour and sugar if I have mis-estimated them.

Walmart:

1 Peanut Butter--80 oz.
2 Tomato Sauce--29 oz. (I get the sauce or puree; nothing with chunkies as my kids won't eat it)
2 Whole Wheat Flour--5 lb.
2 Applesauce--large
2 Pasta--1 lb.
1 Dry White Beans--1 lb.
Fruits/veggies that are cheap

Aldi:

4 dozen Eggs
1 White Flour--5 lb.
1 Granulated Sugar--5 lb.
2 Chocolate chips--12 oz bag
2 Tuna--5.5 oz.
4 Tomato soup--14.5 oz (I think that's the size)
4 Butter--1 lb each
4 box Mac and Cheese
1 Baked Beans--14.5 oz.
8-10 boxes cereal
1 plain yogurt--32 oz.
1 syrup (maybe, if there's enough moola)
Any other fruits/veggies that are cheap

Asian Store:

Spinach
Any other veggies that are cheap

Bread Store:

Bread-- 8 loaves

Weird places:
-We get raw milk from Rose Hill Dairy. We pay $17/month for our share of the cow. If that doesn't provide enough milk for us (and in January it probably won't), we'll get it from Aldi or CVS.
-Ground beef--Rivertown Meat
-Potatoes--where ever they're on sale

Basics I Already Have:
I'll replenish these as I run out. And, yes, I plan to count the approximate cost of them as I use them.
